Reading Right Now

                              -  Philip Pullman: The Subtle Knife

The second book in the His Dark Materials series. I don't think this part is on par

with the first part. There is too much stalling and jockeying for position, unlike the

first one that saw Lyra heading into adventure after adventure.  Disappointed in this

part of the trilogy I will read onto see if the third part delivers all the tension that has

been worked up in the second part. It’ll take a LOT of fighting to accomplish that!

-  de Camp/Pratt: The Complete Enchanter

An interesting collaboration between L. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt. There are

three stories in this volume. The first, based in Norse mythology is funny and adventurous.

The second set in Faerie is adventurous but cumbersome. The third, set in Coleridge’s

Xanadu poem, is slow and cumbersome and doesn't have the same lift as the other two.

The pace is much slower and the characters becoming almost caricatures of themselves.

- John Birmingham : Weapons of Choice

I have been reading this book for a while now, and it started out very

interesting, but lost a lot of pace in the middle. I will return to it, maybe                                     as a vacation read.

                    -   Right now I'm limiting my reading to a few books, since I'm in final revision

with three of my own stories, and that has to be my priority.
